THE CAR OFFERED

This 1963 Corvette convertible was upgraded to a race car and boasts an impressive race history. Extensive performance improvements were orchestrated including the installation of a replacement race-ready 327ci V8, with a single carburetor, electronic ignition, tubular headers, aluminum radiator, and a sump cooler, operated by a switch on the control panel. In 2012, major work was performed by Maeco Motorsports of Northridge, California, to replace the main bearings, piston rod bearings, gaskets, lifters, retainers, and push rods. The Richmond Super T-10 four-speed manual transmission with 3.70 Limited-Slip Differential ensures that the power and performance of the racer is maximized, while four-corner disc brakes assure ultimate control and confidence.

Special features include a metal front grille, side exhaust pipes, chrome side mirrors, black roll bar, hood pins and fuel injection badging, plus a fire suppression system. As befits its true racing heart, this Corvette does not have bumpers, a soft top, headlight mechanisms or side windows, and to fully capitalize on its power it runs on 15" Halibrand-style wheels with black centers and polished edges, mounted with Goodyear semi-slick tires. The cockpit is dressed in black vinyl, with a fixed-back bucket seat, headrest and five-point Simpson harness for the pilot, and a stock seat with a four-point harness for the passenger. The central instrument panel features Stewart Warner displays, plus a 160mph speedometer and a Jones 9k-rpm tachometer framing the three-point steering wheel.

Not surprisingly, this Corvette has competed for more than three decades and wears the appropriate patina of a racing partisan. It has campaigned in various B-Production classes at HMSA, SVRA and SCCA events and since 2012, has participated at the Sonoma Historic Motorsports Festival, Portland Vintage Racing festival and Coronado Speed Festival. In 2017, it received the John Fitch Corvette Excellence Award at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

The race history of this C2 Corvette, as evidenced by the accompanying HMSA logbook and general service records, is testimony to the excellence of its race equipment and preparation.
