THE MERCEDES-BENZ O319B

The Mercedes-Benz O 319 was a minibus produced between 1955 and 1971, known for its high quality and luxury features such as comfortable seating and air conditioning. It was built on a heavy-duty platform, making it more reliable and durable than its competitors. It was popular as a private tour bus and for commercial transport.

The Mercedes-Benz O 319B was a panel van introduced in 1960 as part of the company's "O" (Oberklasse) series, with a diesel engine (optional with a 4-cylinder gas engine like the 190SL). The Panoramique model featured a large glass panel in the roof for a panoramic view for passengers, with seating for 8 passengers, cargo space, and a rear-mounted diesel engine.
The exact number of O 319 buses produced is unknown, but it was popular in Europe from 1955 to 1974. It was imported to the US in the 1960s, although limited by regulations and demand.
Options for the O 319 varied by model year and configuration, but common options included: gasoline or diesel engine, manual or automatic transmission, seating capacity (8 to 17 passengers), standard or extended wheelbase, high or low roof height, fixed or opening windows, heating/ventilation system, radio/PA system, and interior lighting.

THE MOTORCAR OFFERED

This 1960 Mercedes O 319 bus is a rare gem in the world of vintage vehicles. Acquired by its current owner five years ago from a gentleman who had cherished it for over three decades, this bus underwent a comprehensive restoration process. With the majority of its body parts being replaced, only the front cover and rear panel retain their originality. The frame was stripped and repainted, and the gauges were fully restored to their former glory.

As one of the few remaining models of its kind in North America, this bus is a true standout. It boasts 22 expansive windows that provide panoramic views, 12 seats, and its Webasto roof opens for added enjoyment. Powering this classic is its original 1.9-liter inline-four gas engine, which delivers 120 horsepower and up to 105 lb-ft of torque. The 4-speed manual transmission, overhead valves, aluminum alloy engine block, and single carburetor make this Mercedes O 319 bus a one-of-a-kind find.

Riders will be pampered with upgraded Mercedes seats, except for the original driver and front passenger seat. The restoration process was carefully documented with extensive photos on file. Although the bus was recently restored, it has been part of the current owner's collection, displayed in his museum, and has not been driven since completion a year ago.

Compared to the popular VW bus with 21 or 23 windows, the Mercedes O 319 bus is considered even more rare. This bus is a rare chance for vintage car enthusiasts to own a piece of automotive history and a true collector's item. Don't miss out on the opportunity to add this timeless classic to your collection.
