THE TYPE 2

The Volkswagen Type 2, also known as the VW Bus, is a compact passenger van that was produced by the German automaker Volkswagen from 1950 to 2013. It was introduced as a panel van and evolved over the years into various forms, including a minibus and a pickup truck. The Type 2 is famous for its distinctive design and versatility, and it has become a symbol of the counterculture movement of the 1960s and 1970s. The bus features a rear-mounted air-cooled engine, split front windshield, and boxy body shape. It was available in a variety of lengths and roof heights, and its spacious interior made it a popular choice for families and adventurers. Despite its discontinuation, the Volkswagen Type 2 remains a popular classic vehicle and is widely recognized as one of the most iconic vans in history.

THE MOTORCAR OFFERED

This 1964 Volkswagen Deluxe Bus is a true gem that has been restored to its original glory. The bus was manufactured in Germany in March of 1964 and sent to the port of Boston, Massachusetts the same year. After being purchased by the current owner in 2015, it underwent a complete nut and bolt restoration that cost over $100,000, leaving the bus in impeccable condition with a refurbished engine and interior, and a stunning exterior finish.

The original 1500cc engine was replaced with a more powerful 1600cc engine, as the 1500cc engine was underpowered

This 21-window Deluxe bus is equipped with the Deluxe Package option 114, a premium upgrade option that includes cosmetic and functional upgrades such as a chrome grille, plush upholstery, convenient storage spaces, seat belts for all passengers, and an upgraded sound system with speakers. The bus also boasts split windows with two front windows that open and six side windows that open, making it a rare and sought-after model. Additionally, it features two individual walk-through front seats and multiple bench seats, offering ample seating options.

This bus is reported to run and drive as well as it looks, with new tires, brakes, and other components ensuring its performance. No detail has been overlooked in the restoration process, making it a true testament to the craftsmanship of the Volkswagen brand. The split windows and the ability for front passengers to move towards the back without having to exit the bus make this bus truly unique and special.

This 1964 Volkswagen Deluxe Bus is a one-of-a-kind vehicle that has been restored to a high standard. Whether you're a collector or a fan of vintage vehicles, this bus is a must-see, offering a rare split-window design and premium upgrades that make it one of the most outstanding 21-window buses available.
