THE ALFA ROMEO GIULIETTA

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider was designed by the renowned design house, Pinin Farina. It was introduced in 1955, and it was based on a modified Sprint Coupe chassis. The little two-seater sports car was created in response to the popularity of small sports cars in America and was brought to market at the request of New York importer, Max Hoffman. The Giulietta Spider was equipped with a 1.3-liter twin-cam engine that was both lightweight and powerful, providing exhilarating performance with a top speed of nearly 100 mph. The car's body was elegant and lithe, and the design was unmistakably Pinin Farina.

In 1956, the Giulietta Sprint and Spider Veloce models were introduced, featuring high-performance engines and modified bodywork. The increased compression ratio and the addition of twin-choke Weber carburetors raised the power of the engine by about 15%, making it more responsive and increasing its top speed to 115 mph. The Giulietta Spider Veloce was produced in limited numbers, with only 1,203 made. Today, they remain highly collectible among Alfa Romeo enthusiasts.

THE MOTORCAR OFFERED

The 1962 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider is a classic beauty, boasting timeless design by Pininfarina. The vehicle was built on a modified Tipo 101 chassis, with a two-inch longer wheelbase, providing a smooth and comfortable ride. This particular model showcases a chic gray exterior and a sophisticated black leather interior, with a refreshed blue carpet that adds a pop of color. During its restorative process, the convertible top and the carpet in the trunk and interior were replaced, ensuring a polished and pristine look.

Powered by the venerable 1,290cc inline-four-cylinder engine, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider boasts 80 horsepower and a top speed of 103 mph. The car features black vented wheels, complimented by chrome Alfa Romeo hubcaps and aluminum-finned brake drums at all four corners. The vehicle is equipped with a later production split case transmission, considered to be more reliable than the earlier "tunnel case" transmission.

This Alfa Romeo is not only a stunning work of art, but it is also a true icon in the automotive world, more than 60 years after its initial launch. Its classic design, nimble handling, and impressive performance make it the ideal car for a leisurely tour of the Italian countryside or a thrilling drive to a weekend gathering of car enthusiasts. Get ready to enjoy a beautiful sunny day in style with this magnificent machine.
