Footnotes

This highly original DS19 Pallas is a 1965 model built in November 1964 (the Pallas was introduced in October 1964, so this is one of the first). The car was purchased new by a doctor from Paris. Unfortunately, he was only able to enjoy it for a few years. After his death, his widow could not part with the DS, so she stored it in a warm dry garage on trestles and undercover. It remained there for 25 years. When the widow died, the DS was taken over by a relative from Provence. The car had only 27,900 kilometres on the odometer at the time.
Subsequently the DS was brought to the Netherlands by Ton Claus and was displayed in the Crescia museum (Garage du Lac) before ending up in a German collection. The car has been owned by the current vendor (a Dutch collector) since 2015.

The DS has not been restored but is extremely well preserved. A paint measurement shows that the car retains 90% of its original paintwork, with only a very small piece on the right door repainted once. The Gris Palladium paint is not only almost entirely original but is also in top condition and looks beautiful. The body is also in excellent condition, while the sheet metal is beautiful and the fits are correct. All chrome mouldings are in top condition also.
The interior is typical of a very early Pallas. This early Pallas version can be recognised by the black ashtray and the pull buttons for the hood release (without plastic handles) while the height adjuster is not yet fitted with Pallas-specific upholstery. The interior is upholstered in Rouge Carmin, which is completely original and in mint condition. Also, things like the headliner, the carpet, the dashboard, and the boot lining are all in 'as new' condition.

This DS19 Pallas was entrusted to DS specialist Bart Kocken in 2017 with the requirement to make the car impeccable mechanically. No expense has been spared in this regard; among other things, the engine and the suspension system were overhauled. The work was extensive and the costs amounted to no less than €21,061. The invoices and details are present with the car, which since completion has covered only 2,220 kilometres. The odometer reading is still only 31,600 kilometres. The 1.9-litre four-cylinder engine produces 83 horsepower and is said to run 'perfectly', while the four-speed manual gearbox is reported to perform equally well, as are the chassis hydraulics and brakes.
This car is not only very well preserved but so is everything that comes with it: from the instruction manual to photographs of the car wearing its old hand-painted French numberplate. Lubrication cards from the 1970s are present also. Many features confirm the car's originality, such as stickers and stamps applied during production in 1964. Interesting original details include manufacturing stamps on the inside of the front wings, and bolt heads marked with the Citroën logo. In many cars these features are no longer present due to collisions and repairs. In addition, the original spare wheel with Michelin tyre still has the factory lead! This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own one of these beautiful cars preserved in a quite remarkable state of originality.
