Footnotes

Best known for its Lambretta scooter, Innocenti began licensed production of the Mini - known in Italy as the Innocenti Mini-Minor 850 - in 1965 and the following year offered its own version of the sporting Mini Cooper. For the most part the Italian-built Minis kept in step with developments of the UK product, although Innocenti's Mk III Mini-Cooper enjoyed the advantage of a full-width fascia incorporating a plethora of instruments and gauges quite unlike anything seen in a British Mini. Innocenti continued to manufacture its Cooper 1275 S equivalent - the Mini-Cooper 1300 - until 1973, two years after the end of UK production, and the model's final incarnation - the Mini-Cooper 1300 Export - until late 1975.

Finished in green with a white roof and black vinyl seats with grey cloth inserts, this beautiful example of the sought-after Italian-built Innocenti Mini Cooper, with the 1,275 cc engine producing some 71bhp, was originally delivered to a gentleman in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of Southern Italy. The car remained in Southern Italy until purchased by the present owner for his small but exclusive collection in 2017. Reportedly a very solid car, which obviously benefited from the warm climate of Southern Italy, it was sent for restoration last year and repainted in the same colour as it was before: verde medio with an avorio (ivory) coloured roof. The engine was overhauled at the same time. Presented beautifully, the car is described as very good throughout. Offered with the original Italian registration documents and a (much-used) owner's manual in Italian, this rare Innocenti Mini Cooper is ready to put a smile on its fortunate next owner's face.
