Footnotes

Finland born and trained gold and silversmith Erik August Kollin (1836-1901), moved to the Imperial Russian capital of St.Petersburg, working under Gustave Fabergé from 1858 and eventually opening his own workshop in 1870 under contract to Carl Fabergé, and was appointed as chief work master for the Fabergé workshops, later opening an independent workshop of his own, still producing works for the firm.

Research suggests that after Kollin's death in 1901, his widow Henrika Eleonora Kollin, took over the workshop and continued to do work for Faberge, and was granted the use of her Late husband's 'EK' maker's mark until 1917.
