"Delicious, delicate and demanding, Aprilia's RS is the shouty, temperamental and ridiculously talented alpha male of 125s." – Motor Cycle News.
Aprilia's RS125 was first introduced as the Extrema back in 1992 and would remain the undisputed king of the 125cc sports bike class until production ceased in 2012. What made the RS125 so appealing to younger riders was the fact that it looked just like one of Aprilia's Grand Prix bikes, boasting an aluminium-alloy twin-spar frame and class-leading suspension that would not look out of place on a '250'. The learner-friendly RS was restricted to 15bhp for the UK market, though few will not have been 'tweaked' to release the full 30-or-so horsepower.
This Aprilia RS125 was in a sorry state when purchased by the current vendor in 2017, since when he has treated the machine to a 'last-nut-and-bolt' restoration with no expense spared, which included a full engine rebuild. Notable features include a Vertex piston; Renthal handlebar grips; glassfibre fairing; powder-coated parts; Öhlins lookalike forks; keyless ignition; modified CDI unit; and a Tyga exhaust with carbon-fibre end can. The engine has only been run up once, in 2022, and careful running in will be required before serious abuse. The vendor advises us that the RS could be made road legal, but in its present state (no lights) would only qualify for a 'daylight' MoT. The machine is offered with restoration invoices and a V5C Registration Certificate.
