Estimate: £10,000 - £14,000
Lot 66◊◊◊

A Mercedes Benz 300SLR Junior with Stirling Moss signature,

A Mercedes Benz 300SLR Junior with Stirling Moss signature,

'half scale' homage to the car driven to overall victory in the 1955 Mille Miglia road race by Stirling Moss and Denis Jenkinson. Powered by 48cc engine, coupled to a centrifugal clutch driving the rear wheels, up to a top speed of 15 mph. Braking is by a single disc with a mechanical piston calliper. An evolution of an existing design by the builder, this 300 SLR is one of only three examples that features a plaque signed by Stirling Moss. Offered with a Certificate of Authenticity and a photograph of the signing. This vehicle should be suitable for most children aged between five and nine years old. Offered in as-new condition, with bespoke powder-coated steel chassis with moulded composite glass-reinforced plastic bodywork finished in 'Silver-Arrows' paintwork and red '722' livery. The bonnet and boot lid are both functional, and there are working headlights. It rides on 12-inch steel wheels with pneumatic tyres, finished with chromed knock-off spinners. The cabin is a great tribute to the original car, with hand-stitched dark blue leather and tartan cloth panels on the seats. The floor is trimmed with grey carpet, and the edges and side panels are upholstered with diamond-quilted leather. Ahead of the driver is a four-spoke polished aluminium steering wheel, as well as a plastic aero screen. Overall 210cm long, 80cm wide.
