The accompanying Norton Owners Club extract from the factory records indicate that this machine was originally been supplied to works rider Ted Breffitt. We are told that the original registration no. was 'LTO 869'. At some point the crankcases have been replaced with a pair which started life in a model 18, but it should be noted that a Wellworthy Al-fin alloy barrel and an alloy head are both fitted. The vendor, who acquired the Norton in 2016, tells us that he has fitted new mudguards, the speedometer has been overhauled, wheels rebuilt with new rims and spokes, and a new rear tyre fitted. He reports that it starts easily and runs well. It is supplied with a V5C which incorrectly records the original engine number, albeit with a typo. Following a period of inactivity re-commissioning will be required before taking to the road. Prospective bidders should satisfy themselves as to the motorcycle's completeness and mechanical condition.
Footnotes
As with all Lots in the Sale, this Lot is sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness, and originality prior to bidding.
