Just like BSA and Triumph, Royal Enfield went on to enlarge its original twin-cylinder model, eclipsing its rivals with the 700cc Meteor for 1953, Britain's largest vertical twin at that time. The crankcase remained fundamentally unchanged, but the bore/stroke dimensions and engine top-end were those of the 350 Bullet, doubled up and restyled. Extensive revisions to the engine and the adoption of a new frame (shared by the Bullet singles) ushered in the Super Meteor in the autumn of 1955.
Sold on account of the vendor's ill health, this Super Meteor is offered for restoration and sold strictly as viewed. The machine's mechanical condition is not known, and it should be noted the seat and rear mudguard are loose. The detached primary drive case is included in the sale. The machine comes with sundry bills; two Royal Enfield workshop manuals; and a spare parts book. Prospective bidders must satisfy themselves as to the condition, completeness, and originality of the Lot.
