Kawasaki emphatically established its reputation for building uncompromising high-performance motorcycles with the launch of the stunning Mach III 500 in 1968. Low weight combined with a peaky 60bhp, and indifferent handling made the two-stroke triple an exciting machine to ride but one which nevertheless had the legs of just about everything under 750cc. In 1971 the original was joined by three more triples: the 250cc S1, 350cc S2 and 750cc H2. Although 11bhp more powerful than the Mach III, the H2 delivered its power less frenetically and, thanks to a longer wheelbase and revised frame geometry, was easier to ride fast.
This H2 was restored earlier this year and is described by the private vendor as in very good condition throughout. Works carried out include fitting new tyres, tubes, and rim tape; new front brake pads and hoses; new rear brake shoes; new airbox filter and snorkel; new fuel pipes; and new carburettor rubbers. Parts re-chromed include the front mudguard and bridge; the exhaust down-pipes, silencers and clamps; and the headlamp 'ears'. Additionally, the wheels were rebuilt with new spokes and a new front rim; the carburettors stripped and cleaned; and the engine stripped and checked (a new service crankshaft had been fitted by a previous owner). The machine was last run in May 2021, following which the fuel tank was drained of petrol. Offered with a V5C document.
