Footnotes

Porsche revived the evocative 'Carrera' name for its luxuriously equipped, top-of-the-range 911 supercar in 1973. Revised suspension and wider wheels improved the handling, while the Bosch fuel-injected, 2.7-litre engine boosted top speed to within a whisker of 240km/h (150mph). The next major development was the arrival of a new 3.0-litre (200bhp) engine, derived from that of the Type 930 Turbo. Introduced in the autumn of 1975 as a 1976 model, the 3.0-litre Carrera was destined for a relatively short life, disappearing when the 911 range was upgraded to 'SC' specification for 1978. Its introduction had marked an important development in the 911's production process: the adoption of Thyssen anti-corrosion zinc coating for the steel body panels, which was a vast improvement on what had gone before. Only 3,687 3.0-litre Carreras were built.

Built in December 1976, the 1977 model we offer was delivered new in Belgium in June '77 via d'Ieteren, the celebrated coachbuilder and local Porsche importer (Certificate of Conformity on file). Its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirms that this matching-numbers car left the factory equipped with the following desirable options: alloy wheels; Koni dampers; radio antenna; door-mounted speakers; front and rear spoilers; five-speed gearbox; centre console; coloured front and side windows; heated windscreen; and a sliding sunroof. The original colour scheme is listed as silver metallic with black interior, the same as it is today. Additional documentation consists of the original logbook, the service book, and a Belgian Carte Grise. Accident free, this rare and highly collectible Porsche 911 variant is described by the vendor as in very nice condition.
