2000 Metrocab 2000 TTT Registration no. V308 GLE Chassis no. SCD250599W108634R
First introduced in 1987, the Metrocab was a popular alternative to the LTI FX4 and had a production run of almost 20 years. It was originally produced by Metro-Cammell-Weymann and it shared many styling cues with an array of popular mainstream cars, such as the headlamps and grille from a MK2 Ford Granada and the tail lamps from a MK4 Ford Escort Cabriolet. This model is a Metrocab TTT which was first introduced in March 2000, and it featured multiple improvements including a new front end design and a new Toyota derived diesel engine. This model however is fitted with the original Ford-derived direct-injection diesel engine.
First registered on 4th January 2000, this example is finished in metallic maroon and is an ex-licensed London Taxi that has been in storage for 18 years. It has an exceptionally low mileage of just 19,300 miles, and as a result it is likely to be one of the best-kept examples in existence. Overall the car is in excellent condition throughout and has only one owner from new. There is good history with the car and it was retired from service in 2002 due to a change in the owner's personal circumstances. It also features a full service history with its two original keys, and the engine is reported to be running and driving well following a light recommissioning.
This is the same 2000 model that was owned by Prince Philip, who famously used an LPG powered Metrocab as his personal vehicle to travel around London. This is a rare opportunity to acquire an exceptional example that is in good running and driving order. It also comes equipped with a full years MOT with expiry in August 2022.
