The Peugeot 205 GTI is an iconic French hot hatchback that is thought of very highly by enthusiasts. First introduced in April 1984, the 205 GTI became a quick success due to its playful nature and peppy 105bhp 1.6-litre engine. The combination of a 900kg car that could do a 0-62mph run in just 8.7 seconds was staggering at the time, and later on in 1986 a faster GTI was launched with a new 1.9 engine. This boosted the power to 130bhp, thus lowering the 0-60 to an even more impressive 7.8 seconds.

This 205 GTI is one of the rarest in existence as it was the only GTI that was factory produced in yellow.
It comes from a private collection and it's only outing in the last twelve years was to be displayed at the Classic Car Show at the NEC in 2014 where Classic Car Weekly selected it as one of the top six cars of the 1,700 on display

This 1992 example is a later 1.9 GTI that is an exceptionally rare pre-production prototype. The car is finished in this striking yellow paint which is also reported to be the only of its kind to have been painted this colour from factory. Overall, the car is in a very good condition, and it has been displayed at the Peugeot stand at the Classic Motor Show NEC in 2014. It also comes equipped with its original handbook, a selection of old MOTs, and a recently fitted stainless steel exhaust. The specification is very high as the car is equipped with factory air conditioning, leather seats, large sunroof etc. This is an original and rare example.

Buyers Premium and Charges
Like the vast majority of auctioneers Bonhams charge what is known as a Buyer's Premium. Buyer's Premium on all Automobilia lots will adhere to Bonhams group policy:
27.5% on the first £10,000 of the hammer price;
25% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £10,001 up to and including £450,000; 20% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £450,001 up to and including £4,500,000 and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,001. (subject to VAT)
For Motor Cars and Motorcycles a 12.5% Buyer's Premium is payable on the final Hammer Price of each Lot. VAT at the standard rate is payable on the Premium by all Buyers, unless otherwise stated.
Some lots may be subject to VAT on the Hammer Price. These lots will be clearly marked with the relevant symbol printed beside the lot number in the catalogue.
Buyers' Obligations

Motor Cars
Vehicles must be collected from the sale venue by 12 noon on Monday 6 September 2021 after which they will be uplifted to store at the buyers expense.
Buyers should satisfy themselves that they have collected all relevant log books, documents and keys relating to their Lot(s) at time of collection. Otherwise Lots shall be removed to storage at the Buyer's expense (see below). Lots are at the Buyer's risk from the fall of the hammer. It is strongly advisable that overseas purchasers and absentee bidders make arrangements regarding collection with Bonhams MPH in advance of Sale.
Removal and Storage of Vehicles
All Lots not removed in accordance with the above will be transported by E M Rogers to their depot.

All Automobilia purchased lots must be cleared from the sale venue by 6pm on Sunday 5 September 2021. All un-collected purchased lots shall then be removed to Bonhams Guildford office at the buyers expense.
