The R107 Mercedes SL is one of the most elegant and successful cars to ever be produced by Mercedes-Benz. In production between 1971 and 1989, the R107 generation of SL was built during a golden era of Mercedes build quality and high-class engineering. This is evident through the car's bulletproof powertrains which includes the torquey 5.0-litre V8 engine that powers this 1982 example. With only one owner from new, this 500SL has been very well-cared for throughout its life. This is displayed by the car's meticulous service history which includes bills and invoices totalling £52,000 being spent on maintenance over the last 39 years. Furthermore its original maintenance book, price list, and order sheet are also included. Recent work includes restorative work and a full respray being undertaken in 2012 (back to its original colours). The Sienna brown full leather interior is also still presenting very well, and options from new include full leather upholstery, ABS, rear seats, air conditioning, cruise control and heated seats. A hardtop is also included in the sale, and a new soft-top has also recently been fitted. Overall this is a lovely and cherished example of a popular and usable motorcar.

Buyers Premium and Charges
Like the vast majority of auctioneers Bonhams charge what is known as a Buyer's Premium. Buyer's Premium on all Automobilia lots will adhere to Bonhams group policy:
27.5% on the first £10,000 of the hammer price;
25% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £10,001 up to and including £450,000; 20% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £450,001 up to and including £4,500,000 and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,001. (subject to VAT)
For Motor Cars and Motorcycles a 12.5% Buyer's Premium is payable on the final Hammer Price of each Lot. VAT at the standard rate is payable on the Premium by all Buyers, unless otherwise stated.
Some lots may be subject to VAT on the Hammer Price. These lots will be clearly marked with the relevant symbol printed beside the lot number in the catalogue.
Buyers' Obligations

Motor Cars
Vehicles must be collected from the sale venue by 12 noon on Monday 6 September 2021 after which they will be uplifted to store at the buyers expense.
Buyers should satisfy themselves that they have collected all relevant log books, documents and keys relating to their Lot(s) at time of collection. Otherwise Lots shall be removed to storage at the Buyer's expense (see below). Lots are at the Buyer's risk from the fall of the hammer. It is strongly advisable that overseas purchasers and absentee bidders make arrangements regarding collection with Bonhams MPH in advance of Sale.
Removal and Storage of Vehicles
All Lots not removed in accordance with the above will be transported by E M Rogers to their depot.

All Automobilia purchased lots must be cleared from the sale venue by 6pm on Sunday 5 September 2021. All un-collected purchased lots shall then be removed to Bonhams Guildford office at the buyers expense.
