The Silver Shadow II was a considerably different Rolls-Royce when compared to the first series of Shadows, with notable changes being the adoption of rack and pinion steering and modifications to the front suspension, both of which improved handling and stability markedly. Externally, the bumpers were changed from chrome to aluminium alloy and rubber.

This Rolls-Royce was purchased new by the present family owners from H R Owen in 1978 and was in dry garaged storage, on jacks, from 1980 until 2019. It was restored by N. Sandell at a cost of more than £14,000 during 2019 and is said to be running and driving as majestically as a Rolls-Royce should.
