The 911 is often regarded as the most usable of sports cars, helped in no small part by its reliability and build quality. The 993 model is the last air cooled engined 911, and was fitted with the Porsche Varioram induction system to give a better breathing engine than previous production models. In addition the rear suspension was greatly improved by replacing the old semi-trailing-arm setup with a sub-frame mounted multilink unit which vastly improved the road holding. This 1996 Carrera 4 Cabriolet has been owned by the vendor for 16 years and comes to the sale with vendor-assessed very good bodywork, paint (the car was given a complete re-paint in 2014) and glass. The wheels were refurbished and repainted in 2014 and they and the tyres are also said to be very good. The grey leather interior remains in good condition throughout and a new hood, incorporating wind deflector, was fitted in 2010. The vendor says the air-conditioning is not that effective and requires a service. Engine and running gear are said to be good. In 2014 an independent Porsche specialist re-built the gearbox and fitted a new clutch. Tools, jack, spare wheel compressor and original Porsche leather wallet and manuals are still with the car. The history file contains all MoT test certificates since 2000, invoices from 2005, tax discs from 2006-2014 and a spare set of keys. To sum up, in the owner's words "she has been looked after, is much loved, reliable and reluctantly only being sold due to a house move and lack of garage space".
