*Short-wheelbase model
*Some history, comes with driver's handbook and maintenance booklet
*Seldom offered in this condition
Originally destined for military applications the G-wagen soon found a strong international customer base when it was released to the public, albeit in less spartan form. The classic market has warmly embraced this ultra-usable four-wheel drive, which looks just at home on a plush suburban street as it would on an out-of-the-way countryside fishing trip. Bonhams is pleased to offer this 1986 short wheelbase 280, which is said to have very good bodywork, paint, glass and wheels. The legendary Mercdes-Benz panel fit is apparent, as is quality of the mid-blue metallic paint. Wheelarch extensions lack the knocks and damage afflicting many G-wagens, giving this example an impressive air. The seats, dashboard and door cards are ranked as very good, seat facings showing no rips, tears or fading, while the headlining is ranked as very good. Our vendor reports the engine as excellent for running and very good for starting, while mechanical components are said to be very good. Running gear is reported to be very good and the brakes as excellent.
A good opportunity to acquire a well-presented short-wheelbase G-wagen which comes with some history.
