The Silver Cloud, in all three incarnation, has been a constant in the classic car movement and while each incarnation enjoys its own following the Cloud I, powered by a 4.8-litre straight six, is regarded by many as the best of the trio. Here is not only a Cloud I but one in possibly the best colour combination of Smoke and Sage Green with a green interior. Sold new in the North West of England, it was parked up in a dry warehouse 30 years ago but 10 years later it was re-commissioned for a family wedding – and then put back into storage. The bodywork and paint remains in very good order, suggesting the mileage could be correct. Chromework and engine bay are both in fine order. The green interior has lasted extremely well and the seats show very little sign of wear, the seat facing being pleasingly mellowed and needing little more than feeding to restore their colour. Woodwork (door cappings, dashboard and picnic tables) remains good and with light polishing should be highly presentable, and the carpet appears in presentable order too. Prospective bidders should note condition of the engine is not known but two decades of dry storage should have helped preserve its internals. However, a thorough mechanical re-commissioning is recommended before any use. In all, a highly tempting prospect that should require little effort to return to the road.
