That old cliché 'there's no substitute for cubic inches' could have been invented for the Dodge Viper, whose eight-litre V10 took no prisoners in the old-school performance stakes. While other sought power hikes through levels of forced induction, the Viper had a BIG, all-aluminium engine which benefited from some Lamborghini input. Rammed with character, some made their way across the Atlantic including this UK-market, Generation 2, 2001, two-owners example. MPH's Viper, which comes with the G6 VPR registration plate, is in excellent order, the bodywork being in extremely good order and the paint following that theme – satin black vinyl overlays have been added to the factory-painted silver stripes. The glasswork is good too. It's the same inside with seats and dashboard in very good order and the headlining excellent. Alloy wheels (being a second-generation model these are 18", not 17" as fitted to the first generation) have been refurbished. The V10 engine, which runs a JMB dual-intake induction system, starts and runs excellently And can deliver more than 28mpg on the motorway, our vendor says) and the engine bay is very tidy, and the running gear including gearbox, clutch and suspension (Eibach Pro lowering springs are fitted) is in excellent order. A new OEM water pump and front brake pads were fitted late last year. Being a Generation 2 car this fine model boasts upgrades such as air-conditioning and electric door windows, while cooling upgrades and chassis strengthening plates improved on-the-road prowess. Featured in Modern Classics magazine this Viper offers old-school performance with a surprisingly modern approach.
