Footnotes

A built-under-license version of FIAT's ubiquitous Nuova 500, this rare Steyr-Puch 500D was originally registered on 14th June 1960 to its first owner in Frankfurt, who kept it for five years. Its next custodian owned the car until 1968, after which period it was registered in Braunschweig, Germany.

In more recent years, the car has been restored and sensibly upgraded to the much sportier TR II specification. The engine has been enlarged from the original 499cc to 660cc and fitted with a Porsche HKZ-Ignition system and Weber 36 carburettor, while the exhaust is now a Steyr-Puch Monte Carlo type with twin pipes. In addition, FIAT 126 suspension and steering have been used; the braking system up-rated to dual-circuit operation; a Steyr-Puch 700E Estate gearbox fitted; and the battery relocated at the front for better weight distribution. Porsche seats (from a 914) have been installed together with a Gerstl-Sports steering wheel and Porsche instruments. All improvements were duly noted in the German registration documents.

Strikingly finished in red with black interior, while remaining tastefully understated, this charming 'pocket rocket' will certainly make for an entertaining drive! This unique car is offered with its original old-style German Kraftfahrzeugbrief (cancelled) and current German registration documents.

Steyr-Puch 500D « TR II » berline sport 1960
Châssis n° 5116384

•Livrée neuve en Allemagne
•Complétement modifiée aux caractéristiques « TR II »
•Moteur 660 cm3
