Footnotes

This stately 1913 Brasier carries a unique saloon body, featuring glazed 'panoramic' A-posts, by the little known coachbuilder Marcel Guilloux of Chalon-sur-Saône. The car was sold new in Beaune, Burgundy via Auto-Garage Beaunois - Moine & Bahé, whose plaque is still in place on the scuttle. Called up for service with the Army at the start of WWI, the owner took the precaution of walling up his valuable belongings, including the Brasier, at his house. Sadly, he did not return home and the Brasier remained hidden for some 60 years. It was only uncovered in the 1970s when the wall was demolished to build an extension to the house!

The then owners were not interested in 'old cars' and disposed of the Brasier via a well known Strasbourg dealer, who sold it on to a collector. In 1983 the Brasier appeared in the film La Vie est un Roman, starring Alain Delon. A few owners later it was sold to the current vendor at a French auction in 2008. Essentially untouched since 1914 and outstandingly original, the Brasier retains all of its original paintwork, upholstery, window glass, lighting and accessories, including the flower-holder in the rear compartment. A connoisseur's dream, this exceptional 'Brass Era' motor car is offered with French Carte Grise.

Brasier 16 HP berline 1913
Carrosserie Guilloux
Châssis n° 212

•Carrosserie unique
