In V8 form Morgan's sports car ethos took a major leap forward, the Rover engine combining power with supremely light weight, which in turn meant handling was not compromised. MPH's 28,000 miles 2001 Plus 8 returns to the earliest +8 models with a simple green colour scheme, traditional black interior and black-painted alloy wheels. Bodywork, paint and glass are in good condition: paint retains a good sheen, set off by good brightwork, and the interior remains in good order. The wooden fascia retains a good varnish covering and the seats have little signs of wear. Presenting well, the 4.6-litre engine has seen attention from a specialist and is reported as starting and running well. Four years ago the crankshaft was reground, new rocker shafts fitted as well as a stainless steel exhaust system and headers were fitted. Running gear, including gearbox clutch and suspension is also said to be in good condition.
