Sold new in 1972, this earlier Range Rover was in the fortunate position of being taken off the road to be re-built in 1986. That work took 10 years to complete, but such was its thoroughness the car was stripped down to the chassis, this being shot-blasted and possibly (although now shrouded in the mists of time) zinc-sprayed too for added elements-resisting. The tailgate was replaced but it is thought the other body panels are the originals. Today it is clear the vendor's father carried out an extremely thorough job because the bodywork remains in fine order, as does the paint and the bumpers as well as light lenses and C-pillar air vents. The engine bay is tidy but with little effort could be improved. The interior is in good, serviceable order: Cloth seat facings are clean and tidy with no signs of stretching or bagginess, and the dashboard is fade- and crack-free. The original steering wheel is still fitted. Being sold by the original owner's daughter, this is a wonderful opportunity to own an early, one family-owned Range Rover.
