Large luxurious convertibles are not the sole preserve of Crewe: in the 1950s through to thee arly 1970s Mercedes-Benz' large, saloon-derived convertibles were the pinnacle of engineering, comfort and suave looks. MPH is pleased to offer this wonderfully-patinated, manual 220SE convertible which has had few owners and is offered with a sizeable history file, which includes 26 MoT certificates. The bodywork is in reasonable order but in places requires attention, while the brightwork is presentable. The interior, in a medium blue, requires some attention, as does the carpet, but for those who prize originality it could be left as is. Mechanically fair, it offers a fine alternative to later, larger-engined examples and offers some scope for improvement.
