Once one of the most commercially important market sectors, the 600cc or 'Supersport' class was created overnight by Kawasaki's introduction of the GPZ600R in 1985. The GPZ featured a water-cooled, 16-valve, six-speed engine/gearbox unit housed in a steel perimeter chassis clad in 'race replica' bodywork, an outstandingly successful formula that would be copied by every other Japanese manufacturer within a few years. In 1989 the original GPZ600R was joined by the more powerful GPX600R, which featured a new engine with more-compact valve gear and the alternator repositioned above the six-speed gearbox, innovations already seen on the GPX750R. There was also a new tubular steel cradle frame rather then the GPZ's perimeter type.

Equipped with an after-market Laser exhaust system, this GPX600R displays a total of 33,329 kilometres on the odometer and is described by the vendor as in generally very good condition. The machine is offered with Netherlands registration papers.
